APA INFORMATION HOTLINE
This is APA Secretary-Treasurer First Officer Scott Shankland with the APA Information Hotline for Monday, Jan. 30.
MEETINGS WITH MANAGEMENT: On Wednesday, Feb. 1, the leadership of the three unions on the American Airlines property—Allied Pilots Association, Transport Workers Union and Association of Professional Flight Attendants—are scheduled to meet with senior management for a presentation on their vision of the future of our airline. The APA leadership will then meet separately with management for briefings on what changes they will be seeking to our collective bargaining agreement. We will share details with the membership as quickly as we can. This week’s briefings between management and APA will mark the resumption of negotiations.
JANUARY ISSUE OF FLIGHTLINE POSTED TO ALLIEDPILOTS.ORG ON TUESDAY: The January issue of Flightline magazine will be posted to alliedpilots.org on Tuesday, Jan. 31 and will be mailed soon to all members. The issue, which is intended to help APA members navigate the bankruptcy process, features many informative articles, including:
- "APA Negotiations After Action Report: The Final Push for a Negotiated Settlement"
- "The Delta Pilots' Bankruptcy Experience: What Can We Conclude?"
- "How Bankruptcy May Affect You and Your Family"
- "Restructured Airlines: A Comparison of Pension and Medical Benefits"
- "Unsecured Creditors' Committee Update"
The issue also includes columns by each of the three National Officers, an extensive series of questions-and-answers related to the restructuring process, as well as a six-page "Bankruptcy Event Line," which depicts the course of events that may unfold during the Chapter 11 process.
We strongly encourage APA members to read this issue of Flightline and keep it handy as a reference going forward.
That’s it for now. Thanks again for checking this hotline.
